I've received the following interpretations/reports of similar dreams:
I read the dream of Platypus. The story makes me wonder. In Japan, Platypus is not much famous. Above, I have not seen its creature. On TV, I saw it inhabits in many fragments of trees.
The life style is very cool. That creature gave me the power from TV. Because it almost lonely survives. I think it conqers the world and knows the secret of the life. Maybe, Platypus love you from the edge of the world.

I stumbled upon your Interesting web site by way of a link thru eBay. Reading your story about the "Platypus Dream " was enticing enough to prompt me into a "pseudo-psychoanalysis" of the situation......so here goes...I believe that the platypus is NOT a separate entity, but an extension of your own desires, hopes and wishes for all the good things you might want for you and your family. I read in your website that you want to be a parent. Now, at the ripe ol' age of thirty five, I myself have not experienced fatherhood. However, I think I can understand the strong, emotional impact a child (or, the hope of a child) can make on a person's life. I believe you manifest yourself in the "Platypus Dream" as the omniscient teacher-father that you would like to be some day - guiding and protecting an innocent little person thru all that life deals to Him/Her. So, with that in mind, I will say that the child that will eventually be calling you Daddy will be blessed with a Father who wants only the best for his family. May God bless you and your wife in your endeavours toward parenthood.

I was very surprised to find your website. Last November, after a
particularly incredible spiritual experience with a Native American Tribe, I
had a dream VERY similar to the one you described. It was ultravivid. I
was walking, looking downward, on muddy ground, there was a shallow creek
running through it and there was a platypus trying to make his way. I
picked the platypus up and placed it directly in the center of the creek.
We seemed to connected, I can even remember how the skin and weight of the
platypus felt. Then it hovered in the creek near me and we moved slowly
together. It was one of the most stunning dreams I have ever had... I
remember waking thinking 'platypus'? Jeez, I think Ive only ever seen a
platypus once, like when I was 4 in a book - where the hell did that come
from. Anyway, I am searching for the dream as well. Planning a trip to
Australia.

Gosh i never thought i'd find something to help interpret my dream. Then
i found your website. I had a dream last night that focused on the
platypus. I've always admired the mammal and when asked those stupid
questions of what animals would you describe yourself as, or describe your
desired partner - i always answer the platypus - because it's unusual,
rare, content and free.... anyway, last night in my dream, i was at a river
and saw one - i've always wanted to see one in the wild, but haven't
yet.... anyway there was one in the stream and it was slightly pink with
spots like a rainbow trout (i ate trout last night for dinner), i was so
excited to finally see one in the wild - i ran to grab the hand of a close
friend who has recently become more than a friend, but it hasn;t worked out
- anyway i ran with him to see the platypus and another male friend
followed us, he slipped on the bank and scared the platypus away, but after
waiting for a while we saw three of the beautiful creatures.... there was
more in my dream involving trains, mental clinics (my aunty is in one at
the moment) and some other stuff.. but i woke up with the most amazing
feeling about the platypus bit....

totally weird - i too have a had a dream about a friggin platypus - never
seen one in my life. but from what i can recall my dream involved muddy
shallow swamp water, a forest, and a baby girl (i do not as of yet, HAVE a
child, but ironically i was talking to the b.f. about parenting prior to
this dream happening).....anyhoo..the girl is sinking slowly - it's almost
like quicksand, and then this damned platypus appears in the foreground
slowly waddling toward me... moving on - i never told my boyfriend about the
platypus dream b/c i'm certain he thinks i'm a freakshow already - BUT - he
woke up this morning and is all "i had a dream that i was in forest and
there was this platypus..." what THE???
so, after much research proving nothing, i found that ALLEGEDLY the platypus
symbolized repressed fears and emotions... so we can concur that if you are
present in the dream - your attitude toward the platypus must represent your
feelings toward said emotions....SO - the little girl in my dream could be
either A). myself (read: childhood fears of abandonment - knock yourself out
freudians) or 2). fears about parenthood and being able to produce
viable/self-serving offspring....SO - short story long apparently - perhaps
your platypus represented your feelings about the world's "goodness" as you
say and your fears that - although you may doing your best to "spread
tolerance and good will" - this world will remain fundamentally f*#ked up
in the hands of those who control it.
perhaps.

Heyo...pretty cosmic dream you had. Something cosmic happened to me this morning. A friend was over this morning, and requested I play my MP3 of a funny parody song called "What if God Smoked Cannabis?". I played it, and there's a line in the song that goes...Do you think God had a buzz when He made the platypus?
...then, it hit me out of the blue, that about an hour before, while asleep, I dreamt that a young little platypus had crawled up on my couch/bed, under a warm light, and pulled some little blankets over itself to get cozy. I didn't recognize it at first, and wondered if it had teeth. Almost obligingly, it opened its little duckish mouth and showed me that it was no danger, in fact was so young and soft that it hadn't been weaned yet. A sweet little thing....
Anyway, I'm on wi-fi at a cafe on Whidbey Island, Washington, and they're closing...gotta go.

Chris
Hi Chris,
Last night my husband had a dream that we were walking
with some other people along the bank of a narrow creek about to cross and
we all see something on the opposite bank. Everyone is frightened.
My husband realizes it is a platypus, tells everyone,
and tells them not to be afraid. Everyone continues walking.
Then we see a snake under the water. At first everyone tries to go past it without
disturbing the snake, but my husband tries to kill it.
As he was battling the snake, he woke up.
It's interesting that most of the other people "met"
the platypus in the woods.

Just had a dream of a platypus snuggling up to me on a hiking trail in the pocionos (Pa). Hiking with family on sunny day. It means,to me, comfort and support of loved ones on a very deep level. Hope this helps.
Platys have spurs on hind legs that contain the most toxic pioson on the planet. They are very secretive and rerely seen.
So an animal that can share your most secret feelings can also hurt you vary badly; like a lover who knows you well. A powerful advocate with a soft side to comfort you.
I think your dream goes like this. You are on a muddy embankment- life difficulties, holng your platy- inner self, touching things to improve them. So, letting your gentle self touch others' lives will benefit them as well as you. Possibly this means that you're meant to help others through thier obstacles in lifes journey.
Your platy maybe your emtional gift to help others. I feel that an important aspect of anything in dreams is how it reacts to you. Your platy is at ease with you; a part of you too. This dream says you are to help others with your special incite, in whatever manifestation that takes. It may be prophetic: you will 'touch' the lives of many for the better.
I read you family page. Looks to me like you have already achieved your dream mission: touching the lives of your children. Best of luck and blessing to you and you family.
About me and mine: I'm a contractor engaged to be wed to my sweetheart in May. She's got three kids and (step)fatherhood was quite an adjustment but is fine now. I'm a contractor; Betsy's a lawyer. Am very interested in the spiritual aspect of life and have researched various disciplines. One thing I know: We are aided by our maker to help us through the tough times.
Good luck to you,
Vic
